The newly launched 4th generation Honda City has reached 2.5 lakh sales in India just in few days. The 3rd generation of Honda City has already listed its name in the top-selling car ever in India. When Honda has first introduced first ever generation of Honda City 2017 with diesel power, which has contributed 39 percent of the total sales of the vehicle in India.

Between automatic and manual transmission, automatic Honda City (petrol) has managed to attract 30 percent of the Indian buyers. With over 2.5 lakh sales, India contributes about 25 percent of the worldwide sales that Honda made.

Honda launched the 2017 City facelift in March 2017 comes with the updated LED head, and tail lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, an upgraded infotainment system, a 1.5-litre gasoline engine (119PS/145Nm), CVT automatic gearbox and a 1.5-litre diesel motor (100PS/200Nm) mated to a six-speed manual transmission. If you want to have the Honda City with an automatic gearbox, it’s only available with the 1.5-litre petrol i-VTEC engine and at the V, VX and ZX variants.

Interestingly, fuel economy figures of the City have dropped marginally from 17.8kmpl to 17.4kmpl for the petrol manual and from 26kmpl into 25.6kmpl in the gas manual. The Honda City 2017 rivals the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and Hyundai Verna.

Honda Car India has reduced the prices of its entire portfolio, including the popular City sedan. These popular mid-size sedan costs are reduced by up to Rs 28,000. On the other hand, the Amaze compact sedan gets a price cut of around Rs 14,800. Honda’s recently launched WRV compact crossover gets a price cut of Rs 10,000.

The new model has launched in February 2017 at a starting price of Rs 8.49 lakh, which extends up to Rs 13.56 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Since its launch, the new City 2017 has been getting an excellent response from automobile buyers. Till June 2017, the sedan bagged over 30,000 reservations and controlled a waiting period of about 1-2 months.

The 2017 Honda City sedan is available with two engine options — a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. Transmission choices include a 5-speed MT, CVT automatic (Petrol Only) with paddle shifters and a 6-speed MT.

Honda City has been the go-to midsize sedan in the Pakistani car market. It costs less than other sedans but still provides decent quality, features, and performance. International variants of the car include additional features.

President and CEO, Honda Cars India had said in March that over 40 percent of the reservations for the Honda City was for the top-of-the-line ZX variant – an occurrence even the carmaker had not expected considering how the variant in question prices ₹ ₹ 13.52 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
